Hey, I just cast off the second Nutkin... a bit late for my friend birthday party, but this will ensure that I need to see her soon !!! Hehe ! They just need to be cold wash and blocked and they will be ready to go for their new home :) And as I know her they will be beloved socks...

Here the final spec :

Needles : 2.75 mm bamboo DPN

Yarn : Knitpicks Palette in color Petal, 1.1 skein

Time to knit, just a wee bit over a week, but I did not touch it for 2 days !

Mods : different toes because I did not want to figure a new one this time.

Enjoyement : fabulous, they knit up so fast !!! I love this pattern and I would love to make another pair in a multi-color version soon.

Have a nice week

Nutkins part 1

Yes I did knit a complete sock out of Nutkin pattern since last post... but it did not went as I thought... I did drive all the way to Montreal and when coming back as well, so no knitting before Sunday morning at my brother house and I had a little misadventure with my contact lense... yipee. Note to myself always bring some other contact lense just in case even if I have brand new in eyes...

Anyway, Nutkins is going quite well and I really enjoy how fast the pattern goes. It did some mods, first for the edge at begginning I did not had the pattern when I begun so I figure it was ok like this, but it roll ... and I'm using 2.75mm instead of 2.5mm DPN and I'm really happy that I did it because they are just the perfect size now. Oh and I did a kitchener toes because it's faster to me than short rows.

I'm using the bright pink color of knitpick Palette I had in stash since Julie love pink... I am sure she will love those !!!

Stay tune for part 2 in less than 2 days I hope !!!

Slow week

Hey what about an update...

I cast on for a new pair of sock on Saturday and we are now Friday and I did not even see the end of the first one... But I would like to have both sock done by next Friday at 19h because it's the birthday party of one of my friend for her 30 th anniversary and I know that she will really appreciate the work I put in it...but I have to speed up my knitting for sure ! I don't think I have time to knit those by next Friday so I will begin a pair of Grandiflora (the new free pattern we got in SOS08) because I know I can do those in a week for sure...or Nutkins still hesitate between those two...

The pattern is Tilting cable sock in Interweave Knit Winter 2007. So far I really enjoy the cables and the pattern but be aware ther is an error in the begginning of the sock and I did not look...so there is also an error on my sock but no way I was not coming back since it's not too apparent.

I knit on the recommand needle 2.5mm and I think the size is just perfect so far (fit snug) and the yarn I'm using is the Cherry Tree Hills Sockittome in color Gypsy Rose that I had bought in the sale of Yarn and Fiber cie last spring.

Here the closeup

Wish me luck with my gift !

Yay sock #4

Hey just finish my 4th pair of sock for SOS08, not much in comparaison with some but I'm happy and I'm having fun which is the most important !!!
The pattern is Shady sock by Yvonne McSwiney
The yarn : Filaturara di Crossa Brilla in color Tangerine Dream (almost 2 skeins)
Needle : 2.5 mm DPN
They are for ... I don't know yet honestly ! lol... I'm sure I will have no problems to find someone to wear these !!! haha ! The yarn is a breeze to knit summer sock because it's made of Cotton and Rayon and it's cold enough on the skin to be able to wear handknit sock in summer heat !

I don't know what to do next now... maybe a pair of socks !!! ;-) Going to look in my queue to find the lucky pattern !

Yarn : Cascade fixation spray in multi
Fun factor : high !!!

Oh ! and this is how much yarn is not left in my ball... lol I was worried about yardage, so now I can breathe ! :)

Second summer sock

Hello !

Now summer is really here (knock on wood) at least I hope so now it's gone for a summer hot and spicy ! :) Full of socks as you know...

Speaking of socks I have a new pair to show you, really quick those. They are Lacy Multi-colored socks by Cascade Yarn (free pattern) done in the called yarn : Cascade Fixation Spray in color Multi. DPN bamoboo needle in size 3.5mm were used to achieved these...

here the evidences :

Oh, by the way,... I'm late but this week have been crazy ! Happy late anniversary to Canada, Quebec city and USA ! I had the privilege to see the fireworks of Quebec city 400th anniversary from my own balconny... unfortunatly I did not think to bring my camera to show it to you, but it was totally amazing, 5 to 6 time bigger in number of effects than usual fireworks in competitions... WOW ! A true fireworks fan like me was more than happy to see it and enjoy it... from home !

FO : Pomatomus

Yes I just graft the toes of my Pomatomus, I did love working on those. It is a great pattern and with the stich definition of Noro Kureyon sock, they are near of perfection. I first said they won't match because I did not see the same color at the beginning of sock #2, but finally they are just right on colors. They are really twin brothers :).

Ready to go on the second pair of sock for SOS 2008, certainly I can't beat most sock record while doing those kind of socks but I really enjoy them !

Pomatomus is driving me crazy !

I just love how this pattern turns out with this yarn. I knitted all day long for the whole week end and here is the result : a first sock is done and the cuff of the number 2 sock is also done... wow ! It went fast. SOS is a perfect motivation to knit faster and to try new pattern without procrastinate with the second sock. Cookie A pattern are so well written that it makes me wanna knit all of her patterns. Pomatomus is now a knitting classis in Ravelry is it because of :

a- the fame of Cookie A
b- the genious pattern
c- the freebie factor
d- the exposure because of Knitty.com
e- all of the above

I would certainly answer e in my case, I love her writting, I love the way the stich pattern looks and I waited so long to knit those because I wanted them to be in the perfect yarn and knitted them perfectly. I love knitty.com because it makes me know new designers and try patterns that are differents. It also a good way to show : "hey I'm a designer, look what I do." Freebies are always a good way to get to know a designer style and writting style.

Look at all the pretty colors. They are definitly a keep for myself those, sorry everyone but they are MINE !!! :) The socks won't match for the colors but I don't care, I did not want to scrap a super long tread of green to match them. I like socks that are not perfectly the same anyway and as humans, socks can't be perfects neither. This is where the fun begins...

Tomorow I can knit all day long because it's day off for everyone here in Quebec, it's the national celebration for Quebec. 400 years of history in Quebec, 400 years of french speaking in america... I will explain a little bit of history about this "nation" tomorow.

Yay it's summer !

Hey all of you living in the up side (North Hemisphere to be politically correct) of the world, it's finally summer today ! It also mean the begginning of .... Summer of socks 2008 !!!! Yahoo !!! :) I could not find sleep last night so at midnight I was all awake casting on my Pomatomus, which will be my first cast on sock for SOS.

I am using as suggested 2.75mm bamboo DPN and my Noro Kureyon sock. So far I am not "in love" with the quality of the yarn. It goes from super thin to super thick and it's really easy to break the yarn if you don't pay attention (2 knots inside the sock yet...). But to the defense of Noro... I am totally in love with the colors which is the main reason why I bought this skein anyway. So enjoy the first pic of my Pomatomus...

As you can see I went a little crazy on knitting today... and I am almost done with the 3 repeats before the heel flap... ahem... don't expect me to be THAT fast all the time, but I had a knitting day since very early so ... no comments... ;)

Less than 3 hours before SOS

Hey it's only 2h40 before the start up of Summer of socks 2008 !!! Wow, can'T believe it's finally summer and the begginning of the SOS. Be prepare to a summer full of knitted socks !

I did not have a lot of thing to blog about lately because I was holding myself not to knit socks, I even tried to distract my socks madness by working on a Clapotis but I lost the interest quite fast after the first drops stiches. I just want to knit sock...

I did not even that to you about my lastest yarn acquistions :

Simply sock yarn in color Trevi (I like the name for this blue because "Trevi" is a name brand of a pool retailler here in Quebec and it reminds me of the color of a pool with the sun reflection on the water) and

Simply sock yarn in color Green sand beach

they are both from Rock Creek Yarn which is also a sponsor of the SOS. I need to choose pattern for these 2 baby and be creative with such good yarn ! The yarn is very soft and it will certainly be a real pleasure to knit with it, I will give you feedback soon.

I think I will get to bed early to be able to cast on soon in the morning tomorow, hopefully it's week end !

Happy summer of sock everyone :)

Yarn day !

Hey I told you yesterday I have something to show today .... YARN !!! Knitter delights... yarn coming by mail and what about a double package, one from Australia and one from USA... a dream come true.

First of all, I have to say, that you people on Ravelry are just so cool and so kind. On the group of SOS 2008, a lovely lady offered me a skein of Regia yarn for free ! and since she had annoncement about some skeins she wanted to sell, I fell for 2 skeins of Rowan Calmer, which is hard to find up here.

Thanks a lot ItchyFingers to help me with a skein and somewhere between the moment I oepn the package and now I found what the Regia yarn will be : Socks for Dad... color is perfect. Check these very cute yarn cake.

Then, the package number two.... I got my swap package for Spring swap and it contains a yarn I don't at all : Corn from Vero Moda, 100% corn content, 130m for 50g which is DK weight I got 10 balls and a little crochet magazine and a kit of crochets hooks.

Thanks a lot Sue for this lovely package and I do understand that sometime life gets in the way, I just hope that now we can catch up and have a little chat sometime :)

New stash

Hey, just received my new sock blockers ! So happy to finally have some ! And when I was ordering them at "The knitting experience Café", I wonder why souldn't I had some sock yarn to my order... After all the postage was the same amount with or without ! :)

So I threw in a yarn I never tried before : Cascade Fixation in 3 differents colors.

I had a number one service with them even though I had some difficulties to order by their cart, I copy and paste my order by email and I phone to give them my credit card number and that was absolutly perfect ! Great communication with the owner, which I really appreciate and now I want to stop by in my next stay in Maine ! I checked on Yahoo Maps and it's only 410 km from my home... not too bad. Who's in to a road trip to Maine ? :)

Can't wait for Summer of sock 2008 begins on June 21st to start more socks.... But I have to resist and only ball my skeins in prevision of SoS, planning pattern for all of them. But a month without a sock knitting is way too long, I will try to resist ... But at this moment I cast on either a new project or finish one of my winter WIP but they are not as fun to work with with the temperature increasing. And what about all of you, do you have winter WIP you don't really want to work on anymore since the weather is so warm ?
