Hi there knitter and non-knitters,

as promise this week here is my FO Quant, since it's rainny outside I'll post a outside picture as soon as possible (possibly in Amsterdam... youpi !). I had love making this, and learning entrelac in just a pleasure, I though it would be hard, but not at all. It reinforce my will to make Lady E. in 2008... umm Noro Silk garden dreams...


Specs of it :
Pattern is Quant from Knitty.com winter 2007
Yarn : Taos, Crystal Palace Yarns in color 009 Tucson a little more than the half of the skein
Cast on Monday December 18th and Cast off on Friday December 21th, so really quick since I put a little time on it everyday.

Since I had so much yarn left in the ball I cast on an Ipod cozy to fit my new headband... look at this :

I have a 80 gigs Ipod Classic so it's a bit bigger than the regular Ipod and I wanted to make a cozy for it since I first bought it. I elaborate on the pattern of Quant to make it if someone want it I'll try to write it down after Chritmas holiday.

Taking of Christmas holidays... I wishing to all of you Merry Christmas and Happy New Years since I'm flying to Dubaï tomorow ! I'll try to post some pictures here before I get back to Quebec for sure, or at least after... :)

Fast WIP

Hello !

Just want to get you know about my new WIP : Quant from knitty.com. I cast on Monday night just before to go to bed, then I work a little bit on it yesterday, a bit more today and I'll be done probally tomorow ! I'm using Crystal Palace Yarns : Taos in color 0009 Tucson which is very colorful and squishy. I'm so happy to be able to use the exact yarn that have been called for a pattern that I jumped everywhere when I got the package on Monday.

I had place my order on http://www.yarnandfiber.com/, it has been really fast (only 5 open business days even if I'm in Canada). I also had the chance not to have custom charge to pay. I would probably order from them another time in future, they have good price, free shipping for Canada and USA and it still fast.

Back to Quant, look at the yummy pattern and if color and brightest in real life, it gives a good preview of how good it really looks !

And look closer for the texture, I'm proud of me , it's my first attempt of "entrelac" technique and since I'm planning to do a "Lady E" next year it a very good pratice for me !

2 FO and some progress

Look what I've finished tris week end : Monkey socks from Cookie A. As hundred of happy knitters I enjoy a lot doing these. Specialy with this great yarn : Colinette Jitterbug who give these sock really cool strippes. I'm still not sure to buy more of this yarn because my LYS had made an error and sold me 2 skeins for 25$ and they real price is 25$ each skein...

Another one more in a Christmas feeling...they are ready to be wrapped up and put under the tree for lucky person of my entourage... I would have like to keep them but I'll be strong and made myself another pair after Christmas time !

Taking about socks... my falling leaves are way too large !!! even for me I think I will have to start over without a few stiches, disapointing. It was suposed to be a Christmas gift too so I think I will need to make a little bit of shopping before the end of the week.

Then, I made myself a new knitted bangle since I gave the other one to a co-worker that love the other so much :). The new one is called Stripped bangle... lol I am so creative with names !

Taking about Christmas theme pictures... do you know what !?! In one week we are going to celebrate !!! Yay ! And as I told in a previous post... I've been planning a trip since last summer with my BF. We are going to Dubaï in United Arabs Emirates. We are leaving on December 24th andf coming back on January 4th... Look at this :

Square around

Look at this ! My first knitted bangle ! It was so fun to knit :), I'm planning to make more and maybee sell them on Etsy, the name for this one is "Square around". It's made of very soft merino so it's very smouth on skin and the bangle is not too big, just perfect. Why not accessorise with my favorite hobby !

A good thing and a bad thing

Let me explain ...

I have a good news and a bad one... so I'll begin with the bad one. After a repeat of the pattern on Falling leaves (link on Ravelry) I just read the sentence under the chart... "Chart only shows odd numbered rows, k all stitches on even numbered rows..." Oops... maybe I should read pattern with more attention next time. I now have a little ripping and catching up all theses stiches back.

And the good one : Knitty winter is out with full of cool pattern to look at and wish to have time (and $) to try them all !!! YAY !!!

Unwanted snowday...

Hello,

it's been 2 days that I'm stuck inside almost for the entire day, no work... but it's not my fault at all... : I caught a bad larynghite this week end and since my work is actually to talk for 8 hours a day. I've stayed at home since last saturday but I hope to be ok for tomorow !

But, as I said be careful for what you wish for... last week I said that it would be nice to stay at home to knit... LOL ... it happens !!! BUT I need to say that it was not suposed to be this way. And about the snow... whe had something like 60 cm in the last days !!! and whe are not yet in winter.

And since I did not post since over a week, I present my new best friend I gave myself a big treat : a Ipod Classic 80 gig from Apple. I used to have a 4 gig so now I can upload all my music, movies, games, etc. I'm so happy with the new fonctions Apple gave to us, music lovers... and since my boyfriend and I are going to a big trip in the end of the month (I'll talk about it in another post) I will have something to do in the plane since I cannot knit !

And what about knitting now : progress on Drop Blouse

I've finished the "center part" (youpi!) and I sewed the armsholes and I am now ready to pick up stitch for the bottom part.

First snow

Hi there ! I don't what is the weather where you live but here in Quebec city, winter has arrived this week and that's kind of fun to see it again (I won't say that about snow in april... but I do enjoy the beginning of the winter !).

The view just under is from my appartement on Monday morning, it was freezing and snowing.

Let's talk about my good friends at the post office... I was waiting for my parcel for a month !!! So when my boyfriend told me we had received a card, Ive jump litteraly. Look at the deal I got on Ebay : 12 set of DPN, 11 circular needles 16'', 12 circular needles of 24'' and 12 circular needles of 32'' for about 30$ shipping included !!! I'm so proud of me, lol. And they are made of bamboo, yummy ! the feeling in my hand is just so more natural that aluminium of plastic. I can't stop touching them as soon as I see them around. Look at these beauty.

And finally, since my boyfriend is out of town for the weekend, I can't take picture of my progress in Drops Blouse so I've decided to post the image of what it will look like at the end. So far the back is almost done so maybe about 15-20% completed yet... I have also begin to swath for Cherie amour from Knitty.com and for the one time I do it it pays off. I've decreased of size for needle and did not cast on yet because I do now what size will fit me best, M or L since every post I read about it says it is make a bit too large... I'll decide this week probably. With the winter I'll also get more time to knit... good thing...

Fresh news

I did not have enough time to knit since last time but here my progress since the last week... still not receive my new needle I bought on Ebay three week ago (they are coming from China) so last friday I went to my LYS to buy a 5mm circular needle to begin my new baby :
103-34 Blouse with short sleeves knitted in 2 directions with 2 threads ”Alpaca”. Size S to XXX by DROPS design .

I'm using Elann.com Peruvian pure alpaca fina i've received a few ago. The color is "Smoky grappe". It is also the first time I knit with 2 thread at the same time and it goes very well !

So far I'm very happy with how it turned out, the big cable are beautiful and the work goes fast so far I've doned about 15 cm not so bad...

Look at the cable ! I love it truly.

Then on the other hand I'va finished the first Monkey by Cookie A. It's a fun one to do but a bit long, I don't if it's the yarn but it seems to take forever to arrive at the heel. Anyway I'm not sure to buy more of this Colinette jitterbug was sold in error 12$ instead of 25$... so at the double price I think I will go with something less expensive !

They will probably be in the Christmas sock of ... Did you really expect me to say it here !!! You will have to wait ... :).

Finally, I've also received my yarn form Handpaintedyarn.com last Monday, I did not realise it before to have it but it came from Uruguay ! Wow, and I still get it in 5 days in Canada, I'm pretty impressed. Look at it it's Merino bulky in color Soltobosque. I'm a bit sad about the color, I was expecting something more purple and less... brown !

Anyway I will work with it anyway. I'm planning on doing Cherie Amour by Ashley Adams Moncrief with it. Until I have time for it, I'm keeping it fresh....

Buzy week end...

What a good week end ! Hope it never ends when all goes so well :) . First of all, I went to cinema friday night with my boyfriend to see American Gangster with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. I give this movie 4 stars. Good history (inspired by a real life story), superb production and casting, I'll see again when it comes out on DVD.

Then yesterday it was the provincial finale of Rouge & OR university football, that was really cold out there, but we had a great fun too. And without any surprise... R&O won an easy game against Concordia University. A perfect season for a perfect team ! With all this frosting temperature, I've tried out my new teapot stared above and to math it I've also made a Ballband Dishcloth (the pattern is linked here). Nice and easy this pattern takes me about 3 hours of attention between this work and another movie : Ratatouille from Disney and Pixar animation. I totally LOVED it !!!

Umm, BTW, my Monkey sock from Knitty.com is coming quite nicely , I've turned the heel yesterday. I'll post picture of it on the site when it's done with the number 1.

So have a good sunday, and sadly back to work tomorow... hope it could always be week end !

Hello !!!

Today it's like Christmas, yesterday I had a little card from the postman to bring me a package... it was my order from Elann.com wouhou !!! Too happy, it has been really hard to wait till I can get there to pick it up.

First I will have to really give a big high five for the service at Elann, they give me a super fast service on billing and answer to a question from me, they also take a lot of attention to how they pack the precious yarn that I bought there... really thumbs up for them !!! I will make another order real soon.

And finally for today, the progress on my so call Monkey socks. The pattern itself is just perfect, easy to remember and giving a gorgeous result. The Colinette Jitterbug yarn is giving really good result and I'll buy some more at my LYS ASAP for sure !

For the moment I'm at the beginning of the fifth repetition of the lace pattern for the leg, the heel turn is coming soon, can't wait to be done with the first one and jump on the number two sock.

Welcome to my blog !!!

Hi everybody who want to read a little, knit a little. Just introducing myself to blogging, since I'm reading so much blog, maybee I just though I could be my turn now!

Just a little note before to go further on this, excuse my english if sometime it sound strange... cuz it's not my first language ! I'm living in the french part of Canada, Quebec. So feel free to help me improve this part of me and be a better canadian extending my english notions... lol !

Let's talk about knitting, at this time I have a few project on needles but most of my time is on sock at this time, just began Monkey socks from knitty.com yesterday they are going nicely.

Just finish the first round of the motif and going on the second one now :) too cool this pattern, love it really.
